Posting Details Position Information Position Title TRIO Math Academic Tutor Job Summary The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Academic Tutor is responsible for assisting TRIO SSS participants at Kishwaukee College with increasing their academic knowledge by clarifying problems, working on study skills, and meeting with students on a regular basis.
Tutoring specifically needed for the following:
MAT 068, MAT 098, College Algebra MAT 150, and Introductory Statistics MAT 208.
This position is scheduled to work from September 2022 - May 2023Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesRequired Qualifications o Associate degree from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution or sophomore status at a regionally accredited two-year college.
o Possess a grade of B or higher in the course/courses of which will be tutoring, verified by transcript.
o Show an understanding and concept knowledge of course material in the areas of developmental and college level math and possible science.
Subject areas will vary based on student need.
o Previous experience providing learning support and/or instruction is a plus.
o Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to a diverse student population.
o Is responsible, reliable, punctual, and patient.
o Maintain respectful and professional behavior at all times.
o Uphold confidentiality of the tutoring sessions.
o Promote a safe and positive work environment Preferred QualificationsPhysical Demands o Work is normally performed in a general office setting.
o Work is conducted in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions.
o This position requires light physical activity and movement.
